Track LOLER dates and log inspections

Log the thorough examination, the next date sets itself, and Cowstail reminds you before anything lapses.

1. Log an inspection

Open the item and tap Log inspection. Set the date, the result (pass, monitor or fail), the inspector's name and any notes. Save, and the next due date is set from the item's interval.

2. What the colours mean

In date is fine. Due soon is inside the last 30 days before the next examination. Overdue means the item should not be on the rope until it is examined. Home shows the due-soon items so you see them without opening Kit.

3. Reminders

Due-soon items appear on Home, and Cowstail reminds you before they lapse by email, and by push when notifications are on. The six-month clock never depends on you remembering.

4. Pass, monitor, fail

Pass sets the next date. Monitor records wear that is within limits but worth another look. Fail is recorded against the item so the history shows it should not go back on the rope until it has been examined again or replaced.

5. Showing your records

The item's inspection history is the record a supervisor or client asks for: date, result, inspector. Keep the serial numbers right and the history speaks for itself.
