Supervising

Running your first rope access team as an L3

From lone tech to leading a squad.

Stepping up to Level 3 changes the job. You are now responsible for other people at height, and for the paperwork that keeps everyone safe and paid.

Before the job

Write a clear RAMS for the task and site, check every team member’s tickets and logbook, and confirm the rescue plan. Quote the job properly so the numbers work, then turn the quote into an invoice when it lands.

On site

Brief the method, confirm anchors and exclusion zones, and keep your inspection records current. Your kit register should cover the whole team, with LOLER dates you can see at a glance.

After the job

Invoice promptly, and if you use subcontractors handle CIS on their labour and keep the running total for HMRC. See our CIS guide and RAMS guide.

Cowstail keeps quotes, invoices, compliance and CIS in one place so leading a team does not mean drowning in admin.
